TREADING

AN ART THAT TRANSFORMS

The project TRILHAR A ARTE QUE TRANSFORMA (Treading – an art that transforms) takes the public to tread the paths whereby art transforms Earth’s various elements into works of extreme beauty (fine art) and to get in contact with processes that convey sustainability (Creative Economy).

It is no coincidence that the Trilhar project chose art as a paradigm, since in all its different forms of expression art helps us elaborate our thoughts and build and resignify things, objects and feelings. It exercises our imagination and calls attention to the importance of our history and our memories to the way we live in society.

water/life

This set of works by the artist Gilberto Salvador was made with the use of a technique of metal engraving whereby the process of textures and graphics was obtained from copperplate engravings designed for subsequent printing on paper, generating varied results, with tones and semitones in textures and fines and shadings exclusively characteristic of this technique. ln order for the artist to ensure the graphic results, several printing proofs were made during the development of the work, until it reached its conclusion. Required by the artist himself, they are called "proofs of state".

Generally, the resulting material is discarded by the artist. ln this case, they were reused for the production of monotypes, generating a series of graphic solutions and making up the current collection centered on the theme of WATER.

Over the last 50 years, the artist has been creating an oeuvre where, as a whole, the theme of LIFE is the artistic and poetic focus.

"Life on this planet exists only because of the existence of water, because it was from water that life originated. lf we want to revere something substantial to the integrity of living beings and the planet, it is water in all its states that we must sacralize and revere; that will be the consequence of the attitude of respect for the environment in which we live, where the respected water resources will make us validate this resource and its reserves...", states Gilberto Salvador.

In this exhibition, Gilberto Salvador brings a subtle and reflective view of the theme and makes us understand the sacred meaning he imparts to water, where splashes, waves, bubbles and water mosses are presented poetically for our pleasure.
